Work on your own potter’s wheel as you develop your skills. You will be shown key techniques to help you to realise some of your ideas and the shapes in your head and some shapes that weren’t!
This course provides an excellent opportunity for beginners to experience throwing on the potter’s wheel.
The first day will start with a little clay preparation and a throwing demonstration. You will be shown a number of techniques throughout the day and given one-to-one tuition and encouragement to build confidence.
The second day will cover the finishing processes of turning your pots and pulling and extruding handles and maybe some embellishments.
The course is limited to four with everyone having the use of a wheel for the whole weekend. Please bring a packed lunch; tea and coffee is provided.
General information
I am limiting numbers per course to four, mainly due to the size of my workshop: I have four wheels with plenty of room in between each one. If you would like to make a group/family booking where there are maybe five or six of you and you don’t mind sharing the equipment, I am happy to accommodate that.
I am not able to provide lunch for any of these courses for you but I have a fridge, microwave, kettle and a small test kiln which works well as an oven in the workshop. I will supply tea, coffee and cold drinks and of course biscuits..
If you are under 18 I would ask you to be accompanied by someone who is over 18. The minimum age is year 9 (age 13) upwards.
