The cost includes me finishing your pots the following day, firing and glazing all work produced.
You can arrive a few minutes early if you want and just get organised before we formally start at 1.30
General information
I am limiting numbers per course to four, mainly due to the size of my workshop: I have four wheels with plenty of room in between each one. If you would like to make a group/family booking where there are maybe five or six of you and you don’t mind sharing the equipment, I am happy to accommodate that.
I am not able to provide lunch for any of these courses for you but I have a fridge, microwave and kettle in the workshop. I will supply tea, coffee and cold drinks, and also biscuits and maybe a cake if my Mum is around. There is ice-cream available from the shop next door and a whole range of lavender products.
If you are under 18 I would ask you to be accompanied by someone who is over 18. The minimum age is year 9 (age 13) upwards.

What a great introduction to throwing clay, if you’ve ever thought you’d like to try this craft or wondered how it’s done then book a place and I recommend you let Jon introduce you to the wonders of the wheel and clay.
I bought two places on a taster session as a birthday treat for my son and we really enjoyed our afternoon, there was three of us on the course and the atmosphere was very relaxed with some laughter thrown in. Everything needed is provided for each individual but be aware that you will get splattered so choose your clothing and footwear with this in mind.
Jon started by introducing us to the room, the clay, the wheel and some tools and showing us the basics, in no time at all we were on our wheels creating our own mini masterpieces and a few disasters along the way, having let everyone find their feet Jon spent a good bit of time with each of us focusing on our specific problems and what we wanted to (try to) produce. It is nowhere near as easy as he makes it look but you are bound to have some success by the end of the session.
You will choose the glazes for each piece before you leave and Jon will glaze and fire these for you ready to collect a few weeks later making this course incredibly good value, after all that’s several Christmas presents sorted now!
A word of warning, do not spend too much time gazing at Jon’s own animal creations, they will steal your heart, a pair of his ducks followed us home!

A very enjoyable introduction to throwing! After a demonstration by Jon on how to produce the perfect pot, the four of us were let loose on our own wheels. Some of the creations were truly unique but thanks to Jon’s guidance, encouragement and patience we all managed to produce several worthy pots. One of us even discovered a hidden talent for throwing!
A fun and productive afternoon was had by all, punctuated with lots of laughter. The perfect tonic for these strange times. Would highly recommended booking a taster session.
